Gorgeous Ladies Papier Mache Writing Slope Desk

This Victorian era lap/slope desk (writing box) is outstanding in its decoration and condition. First, it is larger than most measuring 11" x 14 1/2" x 6". The top level folds back. The bottom opens to reveal a velvet writing surface and storage compartments. The decoration is what sets this desk apart. The lilies are hand painted and exquisitely done on the black lacquer surface. The borders are 3/4" of mosaic Mother-of-Pearl. There is detailed gilding designs within the mother of pearl. As far as condition, the gilding is worn from use. The back hinges appear to have been professionally repaired. The lock on the side is there, but there is no key. The inside hinges have screw replacement.
