SOLD PULLMAN Union Pacific Rail Road Serving Tray Dining Car
Dating from the mid to late 1930's this silver plate tray / dish was made for the PULLMAN Rail Road Company by International Silver. This is a dining car collectible used on the famous Pullman sleeper cars.
The back stamp is " THE PULLMAN COMPANY, International Silver Co. Silver Soldered SE0336 ." and the number 33 in a box It is from the classic style of Art Deco used during the 1920's and 1930's. This comes from the estate of a man who began as a Pullman car server in the 1920's and ended his career in management of that company. This piece is circa 1930. I believe it was used on the Union Pacific Line that ran from Las Vegas, Nevada to Salt Lake City, Utah to Sun Valley Idaho.
This tray is scalloped with a design etched on the flange. The outer edge has a line and crossed ribbon design. It is 10 & 1/2 inches across and about 1/2 inch deep. This is VERY SHINY, so you will see reflection in my pictures. NO bends or dents. There are a NUMBER of knife marks and scratches. This was used by the waiter to serve from, in the dinning cars.
