RARE Circa 1840-1860 Early Victorian Hand Carved Whitby Jet Necklace

Imagine my surprise when I found this gorgeous Victorian Whitby Jet hand carved bead necklace! Measuring 16 inches from clasp to clasp. Graduated beads ranging from 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch. All showing extraordinary detailing. The beads are strung on ribbon with a snap type closure. I do have an appraisal for this necklace that I will send along with the necklace. From the appraisal comes this sentence, "Necklaces like this one are highly sought after due to the scarcity and quality of workmanship illustrated in this necklace". This is a fine specimen. I was lucky enough to see a necklace of this caliber only once in my lifetime. That was when I first started collecting jewelry and the piece was way out of my price range. I have noticed 2 on the internet on upscale websites, although one is not for sale, just being shown in the owners extensive collection. The other is for sale at a MUCH higher price than this one I am offering, although they appear identical. I thought long and hard before deciding to let this piece out of my hands. Necklace is in beautiful condition!
