We want you to feel the same warmth and caring as if you were in our home enjoying coffee and talking antiques!
This rare, machine age inspired, art deco French hallmarked pin is fabulous. If you are looking for true art deco vintage or antique jewelry...Look no more! This is such an incredible piece that I will hate to see it go. Made of gilded brass and galalith, the pin has a trombone clasp and is in EXCELLENT condition. Bright orange marbled galalith swirled with white enhances this art deco piece.
Galalith was made of milk protein plastic that is distinct by it's marbled appearance and vibrant colors. It was only made in the early 1900's up until the end of WWII. Primarily made in France, but Germany also produced a small amount.
The rarity of this pin is the hallmarks. On the reverse side, it is stamped "bon fse", PARIS, 725, and Depose.
The first line is short for Fabrication Francaise, which is "French Made". Second line stands for place made, which is Paris. The 725 directly underneath Paris, refers to the trademark, and lastly... Depose stands for registered, meaning the design and trademark were registered. Pieces marked Depose are highly sought after.
Also on the pin clasp, is a minute hallmark "B/F with a stalk of wheat between them. Which is the makers mark.
This is a fantastic piece that I was lucky enough to come by. It has a fascinating history and is highly collectible.
Pin tested positive to all tests for galalith, and is guaranteed to be vintage/antique galalith. Found in Ginger Moro's famed European Designer Jewelry book.
Measures: Length 2 5/8", Width 1 1/4".

Quite often today, we hear many pieces being referred to as French Bakelite. These are nothing but plastic and not to be confused with galalith.
