A magnificent early 19th century (1820-30) English hand painted, 16 piece, dessert service in the Rococo Revival style, the painted fruit centers similar to work done at Derby Porcelain by fruit and flower painter, John Hancock, Jr. The pieces have wide apricot serpentine borders highlighted in gilding. The centers are painted on a white background in differing fruit bouquets of exceptional detail and quality. The set is in good condition with four of the plates exhibiting age related discoloration in the center and slight crazing with minor age lines, and an old restoration to the comporte pedestal. A fine set for cabinet display, consisting of:
11 dessert plates, size 9” D
2 rectangular dessert dishes with pierced handles, size 11” L x 8 ¼” H
2 oval dessert dishes with pierced handles, size 10 ¾” L x 8 ¼” H
1 comporte on stand, size 5 ¼” H x 12” D (handle to handle)
