An appraisal of the ring done in 1982 describes the ring as follows; One ladies 18kt yellow gold Burmese jade finger ring. Mounting is hand made with deep engraving and pierced design. The genuine Burmese jade measures 12 x 17 1/2mm and 5mm thick. The clarity is very good, it has a Imperial, green jade in excellent condition. This stone would be difficult to replace.
The stone has been check by Mason-Kay, Inc. of Colorado. Their findings indicated that the "12.5 x 18mm green jade oval in ring (4.9 grams) is Natural Jadite Jade". It went on to say "Our testing by Infrared Spectroscopy indicates that this Jadeite sample HAS NOT BEEN ENHANCED".
It truly is a lovely piece. Aside from the stunning color of the jade, the detail of the gold work is intricate and beautiful. It is in very nice condition with minimal wear. It measures about size 6 1/2 on my ring mandrel.
