Glistening, highly polished puffed coins of African Jade or Grossular Garnet accented with 14Kt gold fill rounds encircle your neck with relaxing warmth in this adjustable length necklace. The stones are approximately 1 inch in diameter with mottled greens, tans and black. The necklace chain ends with 14Kt gold fill rounds and closes with a 22Kt gold vermeil hook which catches the 14Kt gold fill chain to vary the length from 16 to 20 inches. The chain is embellished with a carved moss agate flower bead. African Jade is a semi-precious gemstone that varies in shade from Kelly to forest green. In appearance, it resembles Nephrite Jade, however, it is really composed of massive Green Garnet, mined in Africa. It is sometimes referred to as Transvaal Jade. Technically called Hydro Grossular, African Jade is a complex Calcium Aluminum Silicate, composed of massive Grossular Garnet, colored bright green by trace amounts of chromium.
